hello, my passport and visa will both expire in January, 2006, so i shall extend my passport first at chinese embassy in london.

I was told by someone that passport can only be renewed one month before its expiry date, is that true? i've been calling embassy last week, but just couldn't dial through. can someone who knows this confirm this?

Also, what shall i bring with me when i go to the embassy? passport, university letter or any others? Do they charge us for renewing passport?
