coz by the too high overhead, our company need to redundent a few ppl. Unfortunately, my name is on the resideration list. The result will release next Wed.
I've worked in this company for 2 years already. and got a five years working permit. Just wonder if i unluckily make redundent. Is it any time gap for me to find another job? I heard my working permit will be terminated if i lose my job. But how long can i stay in the uk to find another job legally?

dont worry, just keep looking around, it doesnt matter whether your work permit expires or not, but dont leave uk at the moment just in case the customes have the record

Be careful. In law you are only allowed for 28 days before you find a new job with a new WP.
You may be asked if you have changed your job when entering the UK from China. However, you can simply answer "no" to cheat customer office. Although it is illeagal, it seems no one will really trace your working record.
Anyway, wish you good luck to find a new job soon and a nice trip home.

因为目前而言申请PR的条件之一就是：连续工作四年以上
Indefinite leave to remain for a work permit holder
134. Indefinite leave to remain may be granted, on application, to a person admitted as a work permit holder provided:
(i) he has spent a continuous period of 4 years in the United Kingdom in this capacity; and
(ii) he has met the requirements of paragraph 131, 131A, 131B, 131C, 131D, 131E or 131F throughout the 4 year period; and
(iii) he is still required for the employment in question, as certified by his employer

不要太沮丧， 从一份wp转另一份因该容易很多，更何况你有2年工作经验！

说是这么说，个人认为执行起来并没有这么严格。
申请PR最关键的资料是你目前雇主愿意继续雇佣你的信。其它，例如WP，纳税记录等，均不需要。根据有PR面签网友的经验，移民官基本不会在换工作方面太刁难。
我觉得最大的问题是，当你在28天后才找到新工作，重新申请WP的时候，可能会出一些变故。因为换工作的时间间隔就成了HO的主要关注的问题。不过，我想问的是，如果原雇主不告之HO解除工作合同的时间，HO怎么能知道你什么时候LAY-OFF了呢？难道是通过INLAND AVENUE查你的纳税记录？
要是有在HO工作的中国人就好了，这样就可以知道怎么做最保险。
i dont think it is a good idea to go home now, your company has legal responsibility to inform homeoffice that your work permit will be invalid soon, this will be recorded in computer system, when you enter uk again, they could find this out

换工作当然不会刁难，前提是你要衔接的好，两个工作转换时间隔时间不能太长
具体这个时间能有多长，没有一个很确定的说法，一般都认为1个月之内是比较保险的
这就是为什么我说超过一个月就比较不好的意思啦

28 days only??? oh my good. it will be X'mas holiday soon. not many companys are recruiting at this sepcial period.555555

dear rainwalker, at this moment i hold a 5 years working permit from my pervious job, is this WP will be terminated after i made redundent? How long i can stay here without be deborded (驱逐出境) if i cannot find a job within 28 days? My employer said he won't redundent me until 1/1/06. in that case i still able to emtry the Briton custom after X'mas from china. Just wondering what will happen on me if i can not find a job after the legal period. 5555555555
