The Royal Academy of Arts gives a fascinating glimpse into Chinese history with its exhibition showing the treasures of the three most powerful emperors of China’s last dynasty. Among the 400 works are paintings, porcelain, precious robes, palace furnishings, weapons and armour.

A parade, fireworks, and dragon and lion dances will welcome in the Year of the Dog.

A Chinese style lantern display will light up Oxford Circus and Selfridges’ Oxford Street window display will be transformed by Chinese artist Wang Qingsong. Inside artist Song Dong will create an edible city out of sweets and biscuits.

This exhibition of photographs of the Beijing Olympic preparations promotes the spirit of the Games and also highlights London’s growing links with Beijing.

Chinese poems on the Underground
A cultural exchange between Shanghai Metro and London Underground. Chinese poetry with English translations and calligraphy by Qu Lei Lei will be posted on tube trains throughout the network
Watch competitors line up for the start of the China Cup 2006. This new 15,000-mile yacht race from London to Shanghai will see around a dozen
yachts competing and follows the route of old Tea Clippers.
