英国《泰晤士报》新出版的《Good University Guide 2006》，首次刊出英国各科毕业生的起薪，医生每年31,353英镑高踞榜首，考古学陪末席，年薪仅得13,308英镑，全表请参看下文。

撇开医科不谈，英国大学毕业生起薪的中位数是年薪15,850英镑，但英国个人入息税和其他税项重得惊人，打工仔到月底只能拿到月入的三分二至六成，已属众所周知。

商科排28 经济排13

话题谈到全英10大热门学科之一的商科，在薪金排行榜上只排28名，年薪16,199英镑，反而经济排第13，起薪17,859英镑，令人惊喜。记得80年代以前，大部分英国都没有商科之设，只有一些理工学院跟随美国的模式，开设商科学士课程 ( BBA )。换言之，当年入读英国大学，而又打算将来从商的话，修读经济差不多可说是何伯逊的选择。今时今日，商科热潮早就淹盖了传统的经济学。不过，也许因为「无商科不成其大学」已是今日英国杏坛的写照，毕业生逐年递增更是顺理成章，《Good University Guide 2006》今年就有这样的一段报道：「目前每五名商科大学毕业生中，就有一人任职『非大学生』( non-graduate ) 工作。」古语有云：「谷贱伤农」，用来比喻就业，似亦无不可。

护士起薪高企

必须一提的是，英国护士起薪高达19,333英镑，高过航天／机械／电机工程师，无怪有一位在英国定居的亲戚对我说，每次入医院碰见的护士，都得问她们的国籍，因为她们都是如假包换的「外劳」。

较使人失望的是会计、律师和建筑，分别排30、36和40名，在英国念这三科的同学，当然懂得及早回港发展啦！必须一提英文科只排54名，年薪才不过14,177英镑，一点也不吸引。
