The Chinese New Year festival and parade in central London on Sunday 18 February will mark the start of the Year of the Pig. This annual event, which takes place in Chinatown, Leicester Square, Charing Cross Road, Trafalgar Square and surrounding area is organised by the London Chinatown Chinese Association. During the China in London season, a number of events take place including exhibitions, performances, children's activities, films and special promotions at venues across the capital.

Manchester has one of the largest Chinese communities in the UK and celebrates Chinese New Year in style. This year, Tiger will be supporting the festivities, which include the Golden Dragon parade, dragon and lion dances, Kung Fu demonstrations and plenty of stalls and workshops. There will also be a Money God who will be giving away lucky red envelopes with money to bring good fortune for the New Year and an impressive fireworks display at 6pm.

The festivities include a carnival of colour and noise as the city celebrates Chinese New Year. Celebrations begin around midday with colourful dragon dances and festivities culminate with an impressive fireworks display in the evening. Liverpool has the oldest chinatown outside of China, and doesn’t disappoint with its Chinese New Year celebrations. There will be dragon, unicorn and lion dancing as well as a special firecracker performance and Tai Chi demonstrations.
