爱大应用语言学系的问题 by david28
这个是爱大应用语言学系上的一些问题,对我们大家或许有点帮助。 1。Is this a postgraduate course in general linguistics? No, applied linguistics is not general linguistics, although it draws on it. While general linguistics is concerned with describing the rules of language per se, Applied Linguistics is concerned with possible applications of the knowledge of those rules in addressing real life problems. 2。I'm interested in language teaching. Is this a good course for me? If you are interested in conceptual aspects of language teaching, the answer is ‘Yes'. However, if your interests lie more in the practicalities of language teaching, it might be worth your while to visit the MSc in Language Teaching at IALS or the MEd TESOL at the School of Education. 3。I'm not interested in language teaching. Is this a good course for me? At Edinburgh, we have gone beyond narrow definitions of Applied Linguistics. We cater for a wide range of interests in aspects of language in use and yours might one of those. So contact Joseph Gafaranga, the MSc in Applied Linguistics programme director, for an informal discussion.
